Gauge contents of each document set.

Updated: 9:57 AM 4/9/2026

Notes:

  1. Almost all of this information is typed in from PDF documents that I got form the Internet Archive. Many of the Internet Archive documents are "human readable" but do not Optical Character Recognizable (OCR) very well. The reason for not using OCR include poor contrast, dirt and poor photography. Some of the information is on the page curl near the book's spine and may be read by a human, but not by a computer.

  2. As time has progressed I have made an attempt to buy original hard copies of some of the original documents by looking at what is available on EBay. Some of the EBay documents are in copyright and are not as easy to access as I want form the Internet Archive. I am only using a small set of the data from some 3000 page documents and this should qualify as "fair use" as I don't deprive a copyright holder of a sale. (Even though I bought a real copy that someone did pay full price for long ago.)

  3. This set of gauge/gage names is intended as a shortened Table of Contents for each file. The contents came form the full index that is associated with each gauge set.

  4. There are many semi-identical entries in each documents gauge list. This is because the same gauge may be known by many different names in its history.

  5. Each item has its Name followed by its size in KB, date/time modified and the list of Gauges/Gages contained in the document. (The size and date/time fields are not always updated, but this data was correct at one time or other.)

  6. Anyone that has gotten to this point will probably note that I am not very good at spelling. (I now have a spell check addition to my editor, so my spelling should improve.) I also make errors in entering tables of numbers. If there is any doubt about the numbers that you may be reading, please check with the original document that I copied the data from. In almost all cases I have provided a reference to the original document and the page number(s) that I used in the original document.

  7. I have local links to the original catalogs and other data, following each entry in the following list of data. Most of the originals are quite large and load very slowly.
